TIME MANAGEMENT

Psalm 90; Ephesians 5:15-16

Exposition
There was a young man in a tertiary institution who was involved in so many activities that he wasn’t going for lectures at one point. He was everywhere and involved in everything. He trailed about 8 out of 9 courses and was expelled from school. In order for you to excel academically, you must be able to manage your time effectively. You must establish your priorities correctly in order for you to achieve academic success.

Your days on campus are limited, and you must understand that you are time-bound even in your education, so you cannot waste time. Time is an excellent leveler. It makes no difference whether you are rich or poor, educated or uneducated, a manager or a labourer, male or female, popular or unpopular; we all have only one life to live. Given this, you should make the most of the time you have. God admonishes us to value time as a precious commodity.

We should count our years, but God says that every day is so valuable that we should treasure and count it. Ask a student who has failed a class to demonstrate the worth of ONE YEAR. Ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby to understand the value of ONE MONTH. What is the worth of an hour? Ask the businessman whose flight was delayed by an hour, causing him to miss an important business meeting.

What is the worth of one minute? Ask the man who had a heart attack in the restaurant and was saved by CPR because an EMT happened to be sitting at the next table. What is the worth of a second? Ask the person who narrowly avoided a head-on collision with an oncoming car. What is the worth of a millisecond? Inquire of the Olympic swimmer who missed qualifying by six-tenths of a second. Because time is truly valuable, make every effort to redeem it.

“Time is a non-renewable and non-transferable resource,” wrote A.W. Tozer. You can’t slow it down, hold it up, divide it up, or give it up. You can’t hoard it or save it for a rainy day–once it’s gone, it’s gone forever. When you kill time, keep in mind that it cannot be resurrected.” TIME is a more valuable asset than money. Time is the capital that God has  given us to invest. Always plan ahead of time and never act on a plan. Be mindful of where you invest your time.

Prayer GUide: Pray with Ephesians 5:15-16.

Memory Verse For This Week: Proverbs 22:29 (NIV) – Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank.
