Exposition:

After Jesus Christ had informed his disciples about his sacrificial and atoning death and how they will no longer see him after his ascension, the disciples were troubled in heart. Jesus Christ, therefore encouraged his disciples not to be troubled in heart. That they should trust God and also trust in him, for in his Father’s house are many rooms or mansions and he is going to prepare a place for them (including us). Jesus was very clear to his disciples that he will come back and take them (us) to be with him and where He, Jesus will be that will be the place the disciples will be.

On His last day with his disciples on Mount Olives, Jesus Christ was taken up to heaven at the sight of his disciples. As they sadly looked intently at Jesus who was ascending to heaven, two men dressed in white suddenly appeared to the disciples and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven”.

This same Jesus who died for your sins, resurrected on the third day and ascended to heaven will come again – this is the gospel! Jesus Christ is coming to reward those who gave their lives to Him and lived for him and judge those who refused or did not accept him as Lord and Saviour.

Today is the day of salvation. You need to accept this gospel because no one knows the hour or the day this same Jesus will come. If you want to give your life to Jesus, you can prayerfully read this: Lord Jesus, I believe you are the son of God, I believe you died because of my sins, you resurrected because of my justification. Therefore, I accept you today as my Lord and personal Saviour. I will worship and serve you all the days of my life.

So help me God. You are now saved. Glory be to God.
