EXPOSITION:

We discussed earlier that the only foundation is Christ Jesus. The main text under discussion reveals that this solid foundation has a seal with this inscription “The Lord knows those who are His” and “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.” The Lord knowing those who are His shows that God cannot be deceived. One cannot pretend to be building on this solid foundation whiles in reality he is not. The greatest disservice one can do to oneself is to try to deceive the All-knowing God. Let us serve Him in sincerity and in all truth for in that we shall find grace.

How do we know if the Lord knows us? 1 Cor. 8:3 reveals that the one who loves God is known by God. And the way to love God is to obey His words. We can therefore juxtapose this with our lives and see if we love the Lord. If we do, then He knows us. If we don’t then we can be honest with Him and go to Him for grace and mercy. God is not a respecter of persons. He does not show favouritism. The ball is in our court. He has given us enough grace to love Him so that we can also be known by Him.

Some people profess to be Christians (they go to church and give offering) but the Lord does not know them. It sounds unfair but the determinant is with us not God. Seek to know Jesus, know His word and walk in it and you would be known by God.
