Exposition

Secret, as defined by the Oxford Dictionary, is something that is known about by only a few people but not told to others. The secret of the kingdom of Heaven is a mystery, something difficult to understand or explain. Believers increase in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding but unbelievers go into more ignorance and darkness. This secret or mystery of the kingdom of God distinguishes believers from unbelievers. It was very difficult for those outside the kingdom of God to understand

the words of Jesus.

We all listen to the word of God through different mediums such as the radio and television stations, information centres,  on the street, dawn broadcasting and many others. The mystery is that we hear with our ears, but there is a deeper kind of listening with the mind and heart that is necessary to gain spiritual understanding from Jesus’ words. Some people in the days of Jesus were looking for evidence to use against Jesus; others truly wanted to learn and grow.

The secret of the Kingdom of Heaven is meant for honest seekers. Believers can only understand and accept the secret of the kingdom of heaven if they genuinely accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour. Some people do not understand God’s truth because they are not ready for it. God reveals the secret of the Kingdom of God to people who will act on it, who will make it visible in their lives.
