EXPOSITION:

We have realized that the solid foundation on which every Christian should build is Jesus. We have not met Jesus Christ in person, but it was through the Word of God that we believed in Him. As we believe the Word, we believe Him. John 1:1 clearly states that Jesus Christ is the Word of God. Revelation 19:13 says Jesus’ name is the Word of God.

In building on this foundation, there is no way we can do that without the word of God. The Word is the foundation and at the same time the materials with which we build. Many of us engage the word of God in one way or the other through quiet times, reading of the Bible, listening to preaching and teaching messages etc. That is very commendable, but we normally do not consciously imbibe much of the Word of God to build with. The consciousness of gathering the word of God as materials to build will give us an idea of how much we need so that we do not just read to satisfy our conscience but intentionally gather much to build with.

Paul admonished that we should let the Word of God dwell in us richly. “Meditate on the word day and night “- this clearly paints a picture of how much of the word we need to build. No builder can work with inadequate material. Many students fail in exams not because they had nothing, but their marks were insufficient to pass them. Building something that the gates of hell cannot overcome means it should be a building with enough materials to give its strength. When we fill our hearts with much of the word, we will produce the fruits thereof.
