“The clean of hand and pure of heart, who has not given his soul to useless things, or what is vain. He will receive blessings from the Lord, and justice from his saving God. Such is the generation that seeks him, that seeks the face of the God of Jacob.” God makes Himself available to people of purity. The worship of those who are clean or pure in heart reaches God unhindered. Purity then is an essential requirement for knowing God.

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus, who is our perfect role model, made this statement: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God”. When our heart is pure, we can know God. To be pure is to be free from anything that weakens, interferes, damages, or tries to change who we are. A chaste person is a whole person in the measure of the image and likeness of Jesus Christ.

● The chaste person is in communion with the loving Presence of God.
● The chase person lives in sexual purity.
● The chaste person is not involved in secret sin.
● The chaste person has Jesus as his or her ultimate model.

Once Jesus dwells in us as believers, we can exhibit the purity of Christ and reap the blessedness thereof. The blessings of having a pure and chaste life entail an abundance of grace, prosperity and unlimited happiness produced by the experience of God’s favour. Perhaps the overall blessing is the assurance that the pure in heart shall see God. This is the treasure that awaits the chaste person.
