THE BIBLE IS COMPREHENSIVE IN SUFFICIENCY

2 Timothy 3:14-17; Psalm 19:7-14

EXPOSITION:

The sufficiency of the Scriptures refers to the fact that the Bible is all we need to equip us for a life of faith, morality and service. The Bible alone comprehensively gives us an understanding of God, His dealings with humankind in time past, how He deals with us in the present and the fate of the human race.

The Bible gives an understanding of life’s questions which have got to do with the origin of the human being, their purpose on earth and final destination.

The Bible alone has the key to salvation. It is in the Scriptures that a person can thoroughly examine themselves to see if they are living to please the Lord. The Bible comprehensively addresses all issues of morality.

2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that Scripture is useful for teaching, rebuking and training in righteousness. For the upbringing of godly children, the answers are in the Bible. God’s Word nourishes the soul, imparts wisdom, and brings joy to the depressed and oppressed. Also, it brings health to the human flesh and many other benefits (Psalm 19:7-8).

No other book is sufficient in itself. Books written by scientists, philosophers, theologians, and what have you cannot be said to be comprehensive in sufficiency. Nothing can serve as a substitute for the Bible, not even any good Christian literature. As children of God, let us believe in the Bible and take God’s Word as it is.

PRAYER: Father, I choose to believe in the comprehensiveness of the sufficiency of the Bible.

MEMORY VERSE FOR THE WEEK: 2 Peter 1:20-21 (NIV): “Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came from the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though humans, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” #PossessingtheNations
