Exposition
An attribute refers to the unique characteristic of something. To God, it is the unique characteristics of His being or Nature. These attributes of God, enable us to understand who God truly is. God’s natural and moral attributes are the inherent characteristics that are closely associated with or those belonging to Him. Faithfulness means to be true in whatever you do. Faithfulness is one of the moral attributes of God he shares with man.
In Exodus 34:6, God revealed Himself to Moses as, “The Lord, the Lord God, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness…”. The Bible further states, “He remembers his covenant forever, the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations….” This truly reveals to us the Nature of God’s faithfulness. This revelation about God and His nature teaches us that He is true to His Name, He is true to His Character and true to His word. This means that He never forgets, never fails, never falters, never forfeits His word. He is a dependable God who keeps to His covenant of love and to His promises.
Having full knowledge of God’s attributes as Christians is decisive to a mature Christian life, but our understanding of God’s faithfulness goes a long way to develop the important trust in our relationship with God. If we trust God is faithful, then we will have faith in Him. With this assurance, our trust is enough to support a good and growing relationship with God even when problems occur.
