Exposition:
This week, we have been discussing the call of God on Abram. The demand of the call, challenges that come with the call, affirmations and altars of worship, faith and obedience to the call, and the call of God and family were the few things we considered. Every child of God has been called in one way or the other but, most especially, we have been called to salvation and eternal life. 1 Peter 2:9-10 (HCSB) says “but you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people…”

The call of God is unto a life lived in His marvellous light. Peter clearly explained the details of our calling in 2 Peter 1:3-8 (HCSB) “His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. By these He has given us very great and precious promises, so that through them you may share in the divine nature, escaping the corruption that is in the world because of evil desires.

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with goodness, goodness with knowledge, knowledge with self-control, self-control with endurance, endurance with godliness, godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love; for if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they will keep you from being useless or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ”. Your faith and understanding of God’s call on your life will help you live as Abram did and be an agent of transformation through whom God will possess the nations. God needs you as much as you need Him.
