EXPOSITION:
Throughout this week our focus has been on training children in the way of the Lord (Prov. 22:6). This is to ensure that they grow to become responsible and fulfilled Christian adults.
It was observed that training children is our divine mandate. We realised that our training of children must be intentional. We should be careful of who becomes the trainer, and also be conscious of the kind of training they are receiving (Eph. 6:4).
In addition, our approach to training should be holistic (Luke 2:52). It should help the children grow in wisdom (cognitive), stature (physical), favour with God (spiritual) and favour with men (socio-emotional). This will ensure that we have children that are growing in a balanced way.
Finally, we noted that in all our training efforts, we should communicate in ways that children will appreciate and understand (1 Corinthians 14:7-9). We should believe children are resources for the church. God can use them, and we need to prepare them adequately for the Master’s use.
