EXPOSITION:

We thank God for a successful week. We identified what our battle is like as Christians and since it’s not that of the physical we need to clothe ourselves with an armour that is made of God Himself who is Spirit (John 4:24).  We are soldiers of a spiritual warfare (2 Corinthians 10:3-6) that is why Apostle Paul admonishes us to put on the whole armour of God.

We learnt that the Armour is made up of Six elements; the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit. Although prayer is not an element of the whole armour of God, Apostle Paul ends his admonishment by saying, “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit” (Ephesians 6:18). As much as we make a conscious effort to be clothed in the armour we need to soak it all in prayer. Prayer brings us into fellowship with God so that His armour would protect us always.

All the pieces or elements of the armour are found in Jesus; the Truth which He is, the righteousness He gives us, the gospel which is about Him, our surest faith in Him, the Salvation we receive when we believe in Him and above all the word of God which He is from the beginning of time. Let us put on the Lord Jesus wherever we are and in whatever situation we face and then we will be assured of having ourselves clothed with the whole armour of God.
