EXPOSITION:

We have been examining some aspects of the statements made by Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:7-9 “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.”

The treasure can be seen in the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ or the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. The earthen vessels, on the other hand, are jars or containers made of clay which stands for our human bodies in their frailty and feebleness.

We also learnt that our content is the Jesus we carry and therefore we should still release His glory to the nations even when hard pressed on every side.
