This week we have been looking at the full armour of God. We attempted looking at what it means to put on the whole armour of God. We said that the Christian faith is in complete opposite to what the enemy came to do: steal, kill and destroy. This mission of the enemy puts the church on the warpath with the enemy. It is on this score that Apostle Paul encouraged the Ephesian church to put on the whole armour of God so as to be able to withstand the schemes of the enemy.
We again tried to touch on the main responsibility of the church, which is to preach Christ to the nations. The main reason Christ came to die was to save humanity. It is on this score that He charges the church to go out there and make everybody a disciple.
We then touched on some of the weapons of our warfare. We touched on the breastplate of righteousness and the word of God as a sword of the Spirit. We tried to explain that as the breastplate protects the chest from any injury or missile, it is only righteousness that can keep our hearts from defilement in this cruel generation. We then highlighted further that the word of God is crucial in our quest to becoming grounded servants for our God.
We then touched on the absence of weapons for our back region. We stated that our backs are neither covered nor protected. Our backs are not protected because we don’t fight backwards, we fight forward. Therefore, Christians should not think of backsliding in any way. As young people, may we not take these weapons of warfare for granted. May we never forget to put them on. May we be fully dressed in these weapons so that we can stand against the schemes of the enemy.
