Our devotions for this week have been centred on “Emotional Intelligence”. We learnt that man is a tripartite being consisting of a body, soul, and spirit, hence there is the need to have adequate knowledge about our emotions since it is a subset of the soul. We also learnt that God designed our emotions to report to us and not dictate to us. This means that, with the help of the Holy Spirit, you can effectively process your emotions. Since you have a new life in Christ, you must maintain it by ensuring that your trust and affections are set on God.
We again learnt about the importance of emotional intelligence on our health, decision-making, way of life, performance, relationships, and goals in life. Emotions have both positive and negative effects. We again learnt that it is possible for us to keep our spirit, soul and body blameless before the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We further discussed how to manage your emotions, which begins with knowing yourself and how your emotions affect you. Your emotions can affect your relationship with God and men; therefore, you must guard your heart and mind with all diligence. Dale Carnegie once said that “when dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic but creatures of emotions.’’
You must realize that it takes a conscious effort and the help of the Holy Spirit to be able to master your emotions. You must seek to become a better version of yourself daily and maintain your spiritual place in higher realms.
