This week has been a glorious one, as we looked with deep introspection into betting and how to stay away from it in the battle for integrity and purity. We defined betting as “a wager, an agreement between two parties that a stake (usually money) will be paid by the loser to the winner (the winner being the one who correctly forecasts the outcome of an event). We emphasized on the point that sport betting is more dominant in recent times than any other betting.

We disproved the misconceptions of betting, establishing that it I neither an investment nor an act approved by God. We also found out that God does not condone and connive with betting, in that every good and perfect gift comes from heaven, and the betting system lacks these qualities. Also, God doesn’t change but betting is subject to change in its delivery, and of course can disappoint a man to the point of making life miserable.

We also added that betting can make many leave the faith due to love for money, and pierce themselves with much sorrows that can eventually outwork their regretful end. Therefore, we must take heed and be aware, avoiding sports betting. Rather, we should strive for righteousness, faith, patience, meekness, godliness and love. May the love of money depart from our heart and may grace to be patient be given unto us. Betting is ungodly so let’s bid it goodbye. Amen
