Masturbation is when an individual by himself stimulates his/her own genital organ or any other part of the body with the intention of attaining sexual satisfaction. Any method used by an individual to attain sexual satisfaction in the absence of a partner is said to be masturbation. The individual either uses his hand or any part of his/her own body or uses objects in stimulating sexual pleasure. It is one hardly discussed among believers but deadly and under the umbrella of sexual sins. In a survey conducted among 400 people, 83.75% of those young people were involved in masturbation.

Masturbation is a smart way of avoiding physical sexual contact and running from the risk of catching STDs. However, sexual sin is not just an act of sexual contact but a state of mind and that is why Jesus indicated that anyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart (Mat 5:28). The only license for sexual satisfaction is that between a married couple (man and woman). Any sexual satisfaction that erupts out of lust and fantasy, other than between two married couples (man and woman only) is evil. Human beings are not designed for self-sexual satisfaction but to share and exchange pleasure. The best way to avoid fornication is to exercise self-control, and not to masturbate.
