Exposition
Having been crucified with Christ on the cross and buried with Him through His death, the Christian is expected to live a new life in Christ. When a seed is sown in the soil, in about three days or more, it germinates with fresh and new leaves. So should the Christian. Through baptism in water, we die and rise with a new life in Christ.
Christ died and rose so that you will see and magnify Him in your new life. 2 Corinthians 5:15 states that, “And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again”. This means that the life you live as a Christian must please the one who died for you.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:17). You must bury the old nature when you come to Christ. Do not live to conform to the patterns of the old nature. When you continue to allow the old nature to rule your life, then you are still under the dominion of sin. Scripture says that anyone who is in Christ is a new creature and the old has gone. The life of the new man must be conformed to that of Christ Jesus.
This changing from the old to the new is done by God through Jesus Christ. Apostle Paul advises us in Romans 12:2 that, the new man should not be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind to prove that which is good. Your life must constantly be filled with the renewing of your mind with the word of God as a new man in Christ.
