Exposition
The Pentagonal Gospel is summarized as Jesus the Saviour, Jesus the Healer, Jesus the Sanctifier, Jesus the Baptizer in the Holy Spirit and Jesus the soon coming King. As Pentecostals, we place a lot of emphasis on the second coming of Christ, which is enshrined in our tenets. The tenets form the basis of our doctrines and the foundations of our belief system.
Interestingly in Islam, it is believed that Jesus Christ (Isa) will come again. Contrary to the Christian belief, Muslims believe that Jesus will return to defeat the anti-Christ, die and be raised up. They do not believe He died and arose and is seated at the right hand of the Father. Jesus died once and will not die again. From our reading today, it is clear that Jesus will come again to take the saints to heaven where He is.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to take away the sin of the world. His virgin birth, sinless life, vicarious death, resurrection and ascension to heaven are proofs of His divinity and endorsements to His claim as the only saviour of the world. John 3:17 assures that the purpose for the three decades Jesus spent on earth was fulfilled in bringing salvation to humanity. However, before His ascension, Jesus promised His followers of coming back for them. He first came into the world as a lamb who was slain by evil men but in His second coming, He will come as a lion to judge the world and to defeat the evil one. This week, we will examine Jesus’ promise, what we should expect in His second coming and how we should prepare to meet Him.
