Exposition:

The fall of man in the Garden of Eden made humankind lose the glory of God. Because of the sin of Adam, we’ve all become sinners and are separated from God. Jesus Christ came to the world to reconcile us to God by dying for our sins on the cross and cleansing us from all unrighteousness.

The Jews saw all tax collectors as sinners especially if they were of Jewish descent. In Luke 19:1-10; Zacchaeus who was a Jew was a chief tax collector. If all tax collectors were sinners and Zacchaeus was a chief tax collector, then it meant that he was the “chief sinner”. When he encountered Christ and He requested to stay in his house, his life was transformed and his sins were forgiven. Jesus Christ is the only One who has the power to forgive sins. The people who were with Zacchaeus were worried that Jesus had gone to be the guest of a “sinner”. Jesus Christ indicated that he came to seek and save what was lost including Zacchaeus and you.

Apostle Paul also said in 1 Timothy 1:16, “here is a trustworthy saying that deserve full acceptance: Christ came into the world to save sinners- of whom I am the worst”. Paul recognized that he was the worst of all sinners yet Christ Jesus saved him and forgave all his sins. If Christ could save Zacchaeus, Paul and I (the writer), he can forgive you of all your sins.

When Zacchaeus encountered Christ, he repented and gave up all his evil doing and followed Jesus. He did that by giving half of his possessions to the poor and paying back four times the amount to those he had cheated. For your sins to be forgiven, you need to repent and confess all your sins. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead and you shall be saved.
