Exposition
The coming year holds its own promises and surprises for everyone. Sometimes, the uncertainties of life bring tension and anxiety into our lives, but those who know their God shall be strong, do exploits and accomplish much in the coming year. Do you know that God is with you?
In today’s reading, the secret to David’s protection and success is indicated and King Saul, who sought to kill him, was afraid of him because the Lord was with David. If the Lord is with you, nothing can be against you and all things will work together for your good. These ‘all things’ include the seen and unseen, as well as the supposedly good and bad situations.
Be encouraged and confess positively today that, as you end 2023 and prepare for 2024, God is with you. He will lead you in all your ways and cause your plans to fruition.
With the surety that the Lord is with you as he was with David, the question is ‘are you with the Lord and ready to go through the year with Him?’ The Lord is a time-tested friend and support in times of need and has always proved Himself faithful. Trust Him with your all and He will see you through.
Remember, the Lord has said in Jeremiah 17:5-6 that, the one who trusts in another man and depends on the flesh for his strength is cursed. That man is like a bush in the wastelands and will see no prosperity when it comes. But God adds in verses 7-8 of Jeremiah 17 that the man who puts his trust and confidence in the Lord is blessed and will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. That man will not fear the heat of the economy or the challenges of the time, but God will ensure that he flourishes and blooms, bearing fruit in drought and lean times.
It is so sweet to trust in the Lord, knowing that He has got your back in all situations. The Lord has promised not to leave you nor forsake you. Endeavour to close this year with Him and enter the New Year with Him, for as He was with David, the shepherd boy who became a King, so is He with you, working with and through you to achieve your plans that are based on His divine will and purpose for your life.
