EXPOSITION:

Peter and John had gone to the temple to pray. Then just at the entrance they met a lame man. This lame man had for several years been carried every morning to the beautiful gate but not inside the temple. On one of these occasions, he came into contactwith Peter and John and asked for alms. What fascinates me about this man’s story is the way people could assist to carry him to the gate of the temple but will not carry him inside.

Peter and John, who knew “The Christ” and were carriers of the anointing, spoke by faith. Then Peter said, “Look at us. Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have, I give you, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.” The man gave them his attention and rose up by faith that had been imparted. The lesson here is that when you give God your attention, He will turn your life around.

Therefore, rise up from sin which always makes one a slave. Rise up from fear and receive freedom. To “rise up” also means coming out of things that retard your progress. So, rise up from the era of depending on some prophet for directions, rather receive and know Christ as your only source of strength.
