EXPOSITION:

Faithfulness is one of the moral attributes of God which describes His very nature. God, therefore, expects that believers demonstrate this attribute of faithfulness in every area of their lives.

A person with a faithful heart exhibits the obedience and practice of the moral code of ethics, values, and precepts from God’s word. Faithfulness in interpersonal relations will produce honour, truth, and reliability.

Our faithfulness must be to God and to our fellow men. Many relationships have collapsed because of unfaithfulness. For love to abound in our interpersonal relationship, much of it hinges on being faithful to each other. When people are hard-pressed, they tend to compromise and sell out their faithful attitude. This may tear down relationships and may lead to serious conflict in inter-personal relationships.

Verse 12 of Luke 16 explains the need for faithfulness in our finances. Some people cheat on the less privileged for their money just because they need employment, need to travel, and need health attention. Some people collect money from friends and never pay it back, putting them in a state of jeopardy.

We have been advised in Colossians 3:9 that we should not lie to one another. Our faithfulness in our vertical relationship with God must have a complete positive relation in our horizontal relationship with fellow men.
