DO NOT FEAR: GOD SEES BEYOND WHAT WE SEE

2 Timothy 1:7; Genesis 15:1-6

EXPOSITION:

For how long have you been praying about that need and hoping that God will help you and yet with the passing of each day, your problem seems to be getting bigger or worse? Sometimes, we pray with all our might yet those things we pray about seem never to come our way. In such circumstances, what would you do? As the songwriter rightly puts it, “When the strong tides lift and the cables strain, will your anchor drift or firm remain?”

When the Lord appeared to Abram, all hope seemed to have been lost. When he took a look around him, there was no shred of hope that he would have a child of his own. Abram feared that Eliezer, his servant would inherit his property.

Imagine a couple who have had to live a lot of years expecting a child of their own and with the passing of each year, this dream becomes more and more of a mirage. Such was the case of Abram and Sarai. Despite all this, the Lord still assures Abram, “fear not, I am your shield and your exceedingly great reward” Abram could only see a little beyond him, but what did the Lord see? A multitude of nations out of this old man with an old wife!

Have you lost hope? Are you in a state of despair? Do you doubt because you cannot see? Fear not! The Lord never gave us the spirit of fear. Indeed, we have an anchor that keeps us still no matter the prevailing circumstances. There is one thing we can always be sure of; our God never fails.

PRAYER: Pray as you are led by the Holy Spirit.

MEMORY VERSE FOR THE WEEK: 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV): “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” #PossessingtheNations
