Exposition

Sexual feelings and behaviour are common among the youth. Puberty marks the onset of secondary sexual characteristics and sexual desires. The adolescent period marks the maturation of the reproductive organs. The brain secretes hormones which allow for the maturation of sex organs. Hormones released by these organs arouse the interest of adolescents in sex and their thoughts are not spared. However, the brain of the adolescent is not fully mature to exhibit self-control, delay gratification and analyse the risk involved. Therefore, the individual is not fully equipped to make good judgments on the consequences of sexual behaviour compared to an adult. The risks involved in an immoral heterosexual activity (sexual activity involving a male and female) include unwanted pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections including HIV/AIDS, and pelvic inflammatory disease. infertility, and cervical cancer to mention a few, which confirms scripture in 1 Corinthians 6:18 which admonishes us to run from sexual sins and that no other sin so clearly affects the body as this does. Indeed, sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.

A young lady of about 18 years old, who was diagnosed as HIV positive, defaulted with her review and sought herbal remedies. She reported back at the final stage of HIV/AIDS, where she narrated how she became infected. An elderly man offered financial assistance to complete her apprenticeship as a hairdresser. The man later demanded a sexual affair and she gave in once, only to find herself in this terrible state. She died two days after. She could not complete the training, and at the same time, her life span was cut short by a single act of disobedience to the word of God. People who are infertile as a result of previous sexually transmitted infections involving either the male or female reproductive system, often move from one clinic to another and from one pastor to another for a child. Some chronic liver diseases, cancer of the liver and cancer of the cervix may arise as a result of infection by sexually transmitted viruses some years ago.
