Exposition
Homosexuality is defined as sexual attractions or behaviours directed towards an individual of the same sex. Homosexual acts may take the form of oral/penile, anal/penile, oral/anal, fist/toys and rectal sex (anal/ penile). Often, the need for employment opportunities and the quest to be rich and powerful make some youth bow to this act, especially in Africa.
Some people have also attributed their homosexual desires to genetic make-ups. However, the Bible in Romans 1:26-28 unequivocally condemns this act by referring to women who sought unnatural means of sex as well as men who abandoned the natural relations with women for one another and declaring that the act of homosexuality is an “error” that shall receive “a penalty”.
Several research works have also identified several health challenges associated with the act of homosexuality. It has been found that gays are at a higher risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections, including Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Syphilis, HIV/AIDS and cancer of the anus. They are also exposed to Hepatitis A, typhoid, enteric infections, liver failure, heart attacks, suicide, and disruptions of the anal sphincter which results in the age of faeces/flatulence for life.
Lesbians are also at risk of heart attack, sexually transmitted infections (through the sharing of sex toys and vaginal secretions), cancer of the breast, cancer of the cervix, cancer of the endometrium and cancer of the ovary. Lesbians usually do not go through pregnancy fully, let alone to practice breastfeeding. Hormones responsible for pregnancy and lactation are disrupted and often cause these challenges. Both the Bible and science condemn the acts of homosexuality with these health risks and divine disapproval (Sodom and Gomorrah).
It is imperative that no youth should be led astray by the illusions of this world that promote homosexuality because the Lord hates the act. Any youth with such a challenge ought to pray for deliverance and more importantly seek help from his/her pastor to be guided and helped to overcome or shun the acts of homosexuality.
