EXPOSITION:

God made the world through Christ according to Hebrews 1:1-3. God’s plan from the foundation of the world was for His Son to be supreme above all creation. Therefore, all things were created through Christ. Certainly, He who is the creator is supreme over that which He created.

Jesus was God’s agent in creating the world. The Bible says in Colossians 1:16, “For through him God created everything.” As followers of Christ, we may oftentimes give ascent to this truth but deny it in our practical daily life; we may believe that Christ knows and controls the laws of nature, but we may act each day as though our financial, family, or medical problems are beyond his power and reach.

If Jesus could create the whole universe, then no part of our life is out of his control. It would be wrong to handle life challenges without Christ. No expert, professor, doctor, lawyer, or financial adviser knows more about your ultimate security and wellbeing than the Lord Jesus Christ.

When you do not know what to do at the most critical point in your life, talk to him in prayer, and listen to him in his word. He can sustain and help you in times of stress and confusion.

For instance, we are told that “because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them” (Hebrews 7:24–25). Jesus, therefore, encompasses the Old Testament priesthood and is supreme over it.
