EXPOSITION:

It is not just enough to have Christ in you, what matters most is for you to allow Him to have full control over your entire life because in Him everything on earth and in heaven holds together. This is why I want to urge you to grow in Christ as Peter also admonished his contemporaries.

The primary focus of our growth here is to be like Christ. Every day, you should strive to be more like Him. Therefore, do not be content at your current level of relationship with Christ, there is a deeper level God is calling you into.

The Lord Jesus is not only our focus or goal of our growth; He is the source of growth as well. As we engage him by feeding on his body (the Word) through reading, meditation, and drinking, that is praying in the spirit, growth begins. As we know Christ more, displaying broader and deeper confidence in Him, God reveals Himself to us personally in our walk with Christ and in Him we discover the true personality of an infinite God. The measuring rod or the litmus test of our growth in Christ is captured in Ephesians 4:13(NIV) which reads, “until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

REFLECTION:

Which level are you in your union with Christ?
