EXPOSITION:
Peter and John had gone to the temple to pray. Then just at the entrance, they met a lame man. This lame man has for several years been carried every morning to the Beautiful Gate but not inside the temple.
On one of these occasions, he came into contact with Peter and John and asked for alms. The interesting thing about this man’s story is the way people can assist to carry him to the gate of the temple but will not carry him inside.
Peter and John, who knew “The Christ” and were carriers of the anointing, spoke by faith. Peter said, “Look at us.” Then he said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up, and walk.” The lame man gave them his attention and rose up by faith.
The lesson picked here is that when you give God your attention He will turn your life around. Therefore, rise up from sin which always makes one a slave. Rise up from fear and receive freedom. Rise up from the era of depending on some prophet and directions but rather receive and know Christ as your only source of strength. Rising up means coming out of things that retard your progress.
