AVOID PREMARITAL SEX

1 Corinthians 6:18; Galatians 6:7

Exposition:

Sexual activity is having canal intercourse by using the genital organ of a male and female. Other routes employed include oral and anal sex. These have resulted in bisexual (engages in vaginal & anal sex), heterosexual (male and female engage only in peno-vaginal activity), and homosexual (sexual activity among same-sex i.e. men having sex with men and lesbians). Sexual activity, irrespective of the route, carries the risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) especially when one partner is not faithful. Common sexually transmitted infections include Gonorrhoea, Chlamydia trachomatis, Herpes simplex, Human Immunodeficiency Virus, Hepatitis B, Syphilis, and Human papillomavirus among others.

Sex is endorsed by God for married heterosexual couples, which young people out of curiosity and peer pressure engage out of wedlock. Unwanted pregnancies, unsafe abortions, STIs, Pelvic infections with tubal blockages (females) and urethral strictures (males), infertility (male & female), ectopic pregnancies, and genital tract cancers. These complications are experienced from sexual activity, which confirms the biblical text of 1 Corinthians 6:18 “Flee from sexual immorality.

All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body”. Some young people are so religiously complying with the use of contraceptives while engaging in sex, oblivious to the consequences of long-term usage. A lady in her mid-thirties reported to the clinic with irregular vaginal bleeding after sexual activity. Suspecting a possible cervical cancer, she alluded to having sex to at least forty men in her lifetime. This affirms the word of God in Galatians 6:7 “ do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows”(NIV).

Prayer Guide: Lord help me to keep myself chaste for you. AMEN.

Memory Verse For This Week: 3 John 2 (NLT) – “Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.”
