AVOID GOING BACK – THERE IS NO COVER FOR OUR BACKS

Ephesians 6:10-15

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold everything has become new. As we have explained in the week that it is mandatory for every believer to put on the full armour of God since we are in a battle situation, the word of God also encourages us to try as much as possible to avoid going back to the world. SONS OF GOD ALWAYS MARCH FORWARD. We don’t march backwards. This is because all the weapons that Apostle Paul listed in his epistle to the Ephesian church are weapons for our frontages. So, we read about weapons such as the shield, the belt, the breastplate, etc.

These are weapons known for the protection of the soldier from the front. What this means is that all the weapons Apostle Paul named are weapons used for the battle with the assumption that we are facing the enemy. Indeed, Apostle Paul did not worry himself so much with weapons for our backs because he knew that ‘no man engaged in warfare will entangle himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier’ (II Timothy 2:4). Our main aim for this battle is to please the one who called us. As young people, we need to be conscious that there is no weapon of protection at our backs. We, therefore, need to be very careful with the friends we make and the places we visit. We should not take this salvation we have received from above for granted. Each and every believer has a responsibility to protect the grace that has been shown to us and not allow anything or anyone to draw us back because we have been told that going back can be very dangerous since no weapon was named to protect our backs.

Prayer Guide: God, please help me to remain focused as a believer so that I may never backslide in Jesus’ name. Amen.
