Topic: PASSION FOR LOST SOULS – EVANGELISM AS A LIFESTYLE

Scripture References: Mark 6:32-34; Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Corinthians 9:16.

All men without Jesus are lost. Statistics show that every minute around the world, 102 people die; every hour 6,098 people die and every day, about 150,000 people die. (Possessing The Nation: A Glorious Church to Possess the Nations -CoP, page 317). How many of these people are saved? All men outside Christ are lost and heading towards hell. Apart from Christ, humans are eternally separated from God: They are “wretched and pitied, poor, blind and naked (Rev. 3:14-21)

As young people we must have compassion for lost souls as Jesus our perfect example did. When He saw the crowd like sheep without a shepherd, He had compassion for them (Mk. 6:34); He was committed to saving the oppressed, the despaired and the rejected through His teachings. At Jacob’s well, while Jesus was evangelizing to the Samaritan woman, His disciples had gone into the town to buy food. When they brought him the food to eat; He told them, “I have food of which you have no knowledge… my food is to do the will of my father” (John 4:31-34). The will of the father is to win souls. Jesus entrusted soul winning into our hands and commissioned the church in Mat. 28:19 to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and Son and the Holy Spirit.

This, the early church passionately did at the peril of their lives; nothing could stop them from proclaiming the gospel. Like Apostle Paul, we must avail ourselves and be compelled with passion for God to say “woe to us if we don’t preach the Gospel”. Like Jesus, Paul and others who served God in their generation, let us seize every opportunity to reach out with the gospel to the lost souls around us, thus: friends, workplace, classroom, market place, etc.

Prayer Guide: Lord help me to have compassion and love souls that are perishing.

Memory Verse For This Week:

Romans 12:11 (NIV) – “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervour, serving the Lord.”
