Topic: Passion For The Things Of God.

Scripture Reference: Deuteronomy 6:4-9.

Exposition:

Passion is defined by the Word Web as a strong feeling or emotion and also as something that is desired intensely. It is also a strong desire that gets you to do something amazing. It is fuel in the fire of action. So, to achieve meaningful results, our action must be fueled by a great passion.

To be passionate about something, you must be fully committed to it in every sense – in mind, in emotions, in strength and in knowledge. That is why the Israelites were admonished to love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul and strength. The heart is symbolic of our emotions, with the soul representing our minds and thoughts. We are charged to love God with our strength because our passion must be backed by our actions. Thus, if the Israelites were being admonished to love God in this sense, it means they were being asked to love God with their emotions, with their minds and with their actions.

We also, like the Israelites, are today being admonished to love God with all our heart, soul and strength. We are being called upon to be very passionate for everything that surrounds our worship and service to God, for God desires such passionate service from us. Let us then dedicate our entire being to the worship and service of our Lord God, and this will be the proof of our love for Him and also as the channel of receiving His blessings.

Prayer Guide: Thank You Lord for Your word today. Cause me to love You more and more each day, so that I will be passionate for your service.

Memory Verse For This Week:
