BUILDING A ROBUST WORD LIFE
Scripture References: John 8:30-32; Ephesians 5:25-26;
Ezra 7:10.
Exposition:
Every individual goes to school with the aim of attaining mastery in a particular field. Many have taken ample time to study particular courses. For instance; you cannot be a doctor without a maximum period of study. Many Christians have not seen the journey as one that requires studies. Without the young individual being actively engaged with the manual (the Bible), the whole journey becomes complex. The Word of God must become our final authority (it has no bargains over your opinions and suggestions).
The Bible basically means Basic Instructions Before Living Earth. Which instructions are you complying with? You cannot say you are a citizen of Ghana without subjecting yourself to the Constitution of the Country. It rules your actions and inactions. The Christian can never operate outside the Word of God and think he/she is in God’s will. There have been many arguments about the Bible but no one can despite the fact that it is not a mere book. The Word of God is relevant and sufficient for every decision we face in life. Consult the Word through a daily act of hearing, reading, studying, memorizing and meditating.
The great reservoir of the power that belongs to God is His own Word – the Bible. If we wish to make it ours, we must go to that Book. Yet people abound in the Church who are praying for power and neglecting the Bible. The Word of God has power not only to take impurity out of the heart, but to cleanse the outward life as well. If you wish a clean outward life, you must wash often by bringing your life in contact with the Word of God. If one lives in a city whose atmosphere is polluted with smoke, when he goes into the streets, his hands will become dirty.
He must wash frequently if he wishes to keep clean. We all live in a world whose atmosphere is polluted, a very dirty world. As we go out from day to day and come in contact with this dirty world, there is absolutely only one way to keep clean, and that is by taking frequent baths in the Word of God. You must bathe every day, and take plenty of time to do it. A daily, prolonged, thoughtful bath in the Word of God is the only thing that will keep a life clean.
We cannot claim to be disciples of Christ if we do not continue in the Word. The Word must be deeply seated in our hearts so as to help us navigate rightly. Decide to join the yearly Bible reading challenge, be actively engaged in Bible studies personally. Resolve in your heart like Ezra and be bent on studying the Word irrespective of the odds of life.
Prayer Guide: Pray as led.
MEMORY VERSE FOR THIS WEEK:
Matthew 6:4 (AMP) – “So that your charitable acts will be done in secret; and your Father who sees [what is done] in secret will reward you.”
