TOPIC: DEVELOPING WELL IN CHRIST.

Scripture References: John 15:1-8, Colossians 2:6-7.

EXPOSITION: Imagine if you planted a tree in your front yard, but after a while you decided it’s better in your backyard. Then few months on you realized it would be better in the front yard. Not only will the tree fail  to flourish, but it will struggle to survive and eventually die. Some  of us are like that with God. They decide to go to church, read the Bible and pray regularly for a while and then they uproot themselves  and disappear for few months, relaxed in the daily routine that would  enable abide them in Christ. They cannot develop well in Christ.

From the text, John 15:1 to 8, we could see that the secret of developing well in Christ is to abide in Him. To abide in Him means to  maintain an unbroken fellowship with Christ; it is regular, consistent  and perpetual. We must endeavour not to break our fellowship with  Christ. This development in Christ results in producing lasting fruits. Another way by which you can abide in Him and develop yourself well in Him is by walking with God. Walking speaks of consistent motion, that means being in constant motion with the Lord by making time for His word and prayers every day.

Let’s be rooted and grounded in Him as we continue to abide in Him.  May you abide in Him and He will also abide in you. Be in constant motion with the Lord and it would enable you to develop yourself well in Him.

PRAYER GUIDE: Lord help me to always abide in you and dwell in  the house of the Lord all the days of my life, Amen.

MEMORY VERSE FOR THIS WEEK: 1 Samuel 2:26 – “And the child Samuel grew in stature and in favour both with the Lord and Men”.
