DEVELOPING ROOTS: THE EXAMPLE OF THE THREE HEBREW MEN

Scripture Reference: Daniel 3:1-18.

Exposition:

The story of the three (3) Hebrew men provides us with a very good example as far as getting rooted in our faith is concerned. King Nebuchadnezzar set up a golden image and commanded that all his officials bow before it. All who failed to do so would be thrown into a blazing furnace. Certain officials informed the king that the three Jewish youth, Hanania, Mishael, and Azariah, who bore the Babylonian names Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and whom the king had appointed to high offices in Babylon, had refused to worship the golden statue.

Remaining true to their God, these three refused to bow to the statue. Nebuchadnezzar commanded that they be thrown into the fiery furnace, after it was heated seven times than normal. At the end, the Lord rescued them and the King promoted them to higher offices, decreeing that anyone who spoke against their God should be torn limb from limb.

Surprisingly, many Christians compromise their faith when they are hit hard with the storms of life. Storms of life actually reveals the in-depth of one’s faith. The account of this story teaches us that, they were fully persuaded in their faith. Nothing could make them bow to Nebuchadnezzar’s statue – no threats, no consequence, no punishment! They were fully persuaded of the promises of God in their obedience to him.

Beloved, If the storms of life have pushed you too far, it is time to rise up with the attitude of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego – an attitude where you are fully persuaded of your faith in God. Be grounded in your faith and refuse to compromise to the storms of life.

Prayer Guide: Lord, please help me to stand tall against every threat against my faith.
