The International Missions Director (IMD) of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Emmanuel Gyesi-Addo, has said that one of the many lessons that can be learnt from the story about the birth of Jesus is that nothing is impossible with God.
Apostle Emmanuel Gyesi-Addo said this on Sunday, December 23, 2018, when he delivered a sermon during the climax of the Anyaa District Christmas Convention.
Speaking on the main theme of the event, “Great Joy To The World” with Luke 2:10 and Matthew 1:18-25 as his main Bible references, Apostle Gyesi-Addo narrated the strange circumstances that led to the birth of Jesus by the Virgin Mary, who was betrothed to Joseph.
He explained that the situation was so strange that even Mary was not sure how it was going to be possible for her to have a child without engaging in sexual intercourse with a man.
“In the end, everything the angel told her came to past indicating that indeed with man it may seem impossible but with God nothing is impossible,” he said.
Apostle Gyesi-Addo again noted that Christians must also take lessons from Joseph on how he handled the issue regarding Mary’s pregnancy.
He said that although he had good grounds to reconsider and annul his engagement with Mary after he found out that she had taken seed, he chose to do that discreetly without bringing her name in disrepute.
“Joseph tempered justice with mercy because he was a righteous man. Although he had made up his mind to leave her, he did that thoughtfully. This indicates that righteous people act thoughtfully and in love,” he explained.
He, therefore, advised Christians, particularly parents, to always mete out punishments to their children or wrongdoers thoughtfully and in love. “Disciplining others for wrongdoing is not the problem, but how it is done is what matters. In the same way, speaking the truth is not the problem, but it must be done in love as stated in Ephesians 4:15,” he said.
Touching on the significance of the birth of Jesus to humankind, the International Missions Director said that it is great news for all mankind because Christ’s purpose for coming into the world was to reconcile mankind back to God, adding that, this was why He was to be known as “Immanuel” which means “God with us!”
Apostle Gyesi-Addo said that through Christ’s birth and subsequent death, the relationship between mankind and God has been restored. He, however, said that this great news of Christ’s birth is not just for believers but for all people of the world. He said that anyone who believes in Christ and accepts Him as their Lord and Saviour would share in this great news.
Apostle Emmanuel Gyesi-Addo, therefore, urged all and sundry to reach out to Jesus because He is the All-Sufficient One and the answer to all life’s problems.
After the sermon, 2 persons surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ and were led to accept Him as their Lord and personal saviour.
Apostle Gyesi Addo was accompanied to the event by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Gyesi Addo. Also in attendance at the event were: Pastor Seth Ohemeng Asiamah (Anyaa District Minister) and Apostle Daniel Noble Atsu (Retired)
