A special service has been held to welcome the new Resident Minister of Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC)-Sakumono, Pastor Anthony Owusu Sekyere Kwarteng.
Pastor Kwarteng takes over from Pastor Jonathan Kofie who served the district for three years and has been transferred to Achimota District.
Pastor Kwarteng was the Personal Assistant to the International Missions Director (IMD), Apostle Emmanuel Gyesi-Addo, and also served as the Resident Minister for the Firestone Worship Centre in Madina Area.
The ceremony which took place on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, was witnessed by members of the Church from both districts as well as the Pastorate in the Teshie-Nungua Area.
In a sermon on the theme, “Called for a Purpose,” Pastor Joshua Awuku Dzokoto, the District Pastor for East Airport, said it is time for PIWC Sakumono to soar into another level of church growth and leadership, hence the reason for a new Resident Minister.
According to him, “God has an agenda for the church and no other person can serve that purpose best, than Pastor Kwarteng.”
Reading from Esther 4:14-17, Pastor Dzokoto urged Christians not to forget their purpose in life when all is well with them just like Esther who forget about her people. He entreated them to be ready to do the work of God always irrespective of the situation.
He encouraged Pastor Kwarteng not to fear, because God knows him and has prepared him for His work, saying, “All you need is to avail yourself for the task He has entrusted to your care. God has blessed the church with a lot of potentials; people with good heart and mind of God, and intellectuals to support the work of the Lord.”
Pastor Dzokoto further advised believers to be focused and not be distracted by unnecessary things. “You need to remain focused and nothing should divert your course,” he said.
Pastor Kwarteng has served at various districts such as Anomabo, PIWC-Cape Coast, PENSA Traveling Secretary for Central Region, and a Personal Assistant to the International Mission Director (IMD), among others. He is married to Eunice and they are blessed with four children.
In his response, Pastor Kwarteng extended his gratitude to the leadership of the Church, and the entire church for their support in his ministry.
Reading from Romans 12:11, he admonished all and sundry not to lay back but be zealous for the Lord, saying, “It is not time for excuses, let’s keep the fire burning and together we will build a strong church and impact lives wherever we find ourselves.”
Prayers were offered for Pastor Kwarteng and his family.
