The Yennyawoso District Minister of The Church of Pentecost in the New Tafo Area, Pastor Andrew Adu-Amankwaah, has retired from active ministerial service of the Church.

Pastor Adu-Amankwaah, who served conscientiously and meritoriously in the ministry for 24 years along with his wife, Mrs. Agnes Adu-Amankwaah, was honoured with a special retirement service held on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at M. K Yeboah Memorial Temple, Krofrom in Kumasi.

The service, which was officiated by the New Tafo Area Head, Apostle Samuel Osei Asante, was attended by a host of active and retired ministers of the Church from across the country including the erstwhile Chairman, Apostle Dr. Michael Kwabena Ntumy and his wife, Mrs. Martha Ntumy as well as the relatives and well-wishers.

In a sermon captioned: “Well Done Good And Faithful Servant” based on Matthew 25:14-30, Apostle Osei Asante noted that Jesus Christ gave the parable of the talents to demonstrate responsibilities God assigns His people to undertake in accordance with each one’s capability. According to him, whoever comes to Christ is entrusted with a responsibility which He expects to be discharged with great diligence.

He added that every responsibility comes with accountability. He, therefore, entreated Christians to put in their maximum efforts in whatever they do in order not to be found wanting on the day of reckoning.

Referencing Matthew 20:28 and Philippians 2:5-9, Apostle Osei Asante admonished Christians not to be ashamed of being servants of God but they should rather be joyous and serve well because Christ Himself came to serve. “If Jesus, being a servant was able to serve well and was exalted accordingly, then if we also serve well as servants of God we will surely be commended,” he stated.

He further advised the congregants to serve the Lord and the Church with the gifts that have been bestowed on them by the Holy Spirit and continually seek His presence for divine ability to carry out whatever task they have been entrusted with. (1 Peter 4:10). “The Holy Spirit gives out the gifts to believers purposely for the growth and the betterment of His Church,” he noted.

He charged the gathering to exhibit perseverance, willingness, faithfulness, diligence, honesty, respect and obedience in all spheres of life.

Apostle Osei Asante concluded by stressing on the need for believers to be good and faithful servants to receive great commendation from God, saying, “The quality of your service will be the determinant of your reward but not your status in the Church.”

Speaking at the service, the former Chairman of the Church, Apostle Dr. Michael Kwabena Ntumy thanked God for preserving the lives of Pastor and Mrs. Adu-Amankwaah throughout their active ministry and commended them for bringing their 24 years of ministerial service to a perfect end.

Apostle Dr. Ntumy described Pastor Adu-Amankwaah as very tolerant, dutiful, gentle, astute and hardworking minister who knows no tiredness and discharges his duties with assiduity and dexterity. He eulogized Pastor Adu-Amankwaah for the amazing job he did as his Personal Assistant during his incumbency as the Chairman of the Church. “I enjoyed working with him as my Personal Assistant; a responsibility he creditably discharged for nine good years,” he said. He subsequently prayed fervently for Pastor Adu-Amankwaah and family.

As part of the event, Pastor and Mrs. Adu-Amankwaah were both presented separate citations in recognition of their great services to God and the Church by the District, Youth and the Women’s Ministries respectively.
Certificates of honour and service were also presented to them.
