The Tarkwa Area Head and Executive Council Member of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr David Nyansah Hayfron, has reaffirmed the Church’s divine mandate as God’s primary agent for transforming society through the gospel and the power of the Holy Spirit.
He made the declaration during the opening of the 2026 PENSA Ghana Gospel and Power Conference at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa.
Preaching on the theme, ‘The Church Unleashed To Transform Society Through The Gospel And The Power of The Holy Spirit’ from Acts 8:4–8 and Acts 13:2–5, Apostle Hayfron stated that no human institution, no matter how sophisticated, can replace the Church in addressing the deep-rooted problems of society. According to him, history proves that whenever genuine transformation has occurred, the Church has been at the centre.
“If the Church is withdrawn from the face of the earth, the problems of the world will escalate,” he asserted, citing biblical figures such as Daniel, Jonah and Paul, as well as the Protestant movement, as clear examples of how God has used His people to influence and reshape societies.
He explained that societal transformation begins with human transformation, stressing that while humans are not the centre of creation, they are stewards of it. “How humans administer creation reflects what we see around us. To have a proper world, you must transform humans, and that takes the power of the Holy Spirit,” he said.
Apostle Dr Hayfron described the Holy Spirit as the chief director of God’s mission on earth, noting that it was after Christ’s resurrection that encounters with Him led to radical transformation. He referenced the apostle Peter, whose boldness and willingness to die for the gospel were products of the Holy Spirit’s power.
Highlighting the focus of the Church’s 2026 theme, he called on Christians to preach a holistic gospel – one that proclaims God’s love, calls people to Christ, and teaches the values and principles of the Kingdom of God, all backed by the power of the Holy Spirit.
He expressed concern that although only about one-third of the world identifies as Christian, transforming converts into mature, godly believers has become more challenging than winning them. He therefore emphasised discipleship through consistent teaching, prayer and reliance on the Holy Spirit.
Apostle Hayfron concluded by urging believers to practice consistent fasting and prayer, meditate on Scripture, expect the miraculous, and show extra commitment to God’s mission, adding that the gospel must prepare people not only for heaven but also for impactful living on earth.
