Demonstrating The Act of Self-Control

Ephesians 4:26 -27

EXPOSITION
Self-control is the ability to control oneself. It involves the ability to say “no” to our basic desires and fleshly lust. We tend to do things which go against God’s will because our fallen nature is under the influence of sin. However, God helps those who turn to Him for salvation. One of the proofs of God’s working in our lives is the ability to control our own thoughts, words and actions.

“Our old self was crucified with Christ so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin” (Romans 6:6).

LESSON LEARNT: A life yielded to God is sure to overcome sin.

Dear Father, strengthen me by the Holy Spirit to say, 'No' to sin in Jesus name.

And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Philippians 2:8 (ESV) AMEN
