FORGET NOT ALL HIS BENEFITS

Psalm 103:1-4, 8-13

Exposition:

We are at the cross road of a passing year and welcoming a new year. Having the privilege to witness the very last day of this eventful year 2021 alone is enough reason to be thankful to God. In the famous Psalm 103, we see David reviewing the goodness, love, kindness, grace, and mercies of God. He then engages his innermost being and faculties to praise the Lord. He also acknowledges the benefits of the Lord, which according him include God’s forgiveness, healings, deliverance, compassion, provisions and strengthening.

It is very easy for one to think that the many accomplishments and successes chalked during the year are as a result of one’s skills and strategies. David reminds us that we owe the Lord our appreciation. It will be appropriate to pause and in a few minutes intentionally give God our sacrifice of praise, Praise the Lord! David further revealed another dimension of God’s forgiving character. “…He does not repay us according to our iniquities…, as far as the east is from the west so far has, He removed our transgression from us.”

Thank God a million times for the intercessory ministry of Christ Jesus on our behalf. If we are not dealt with according to our sins, it is because He has paid for the penalty of our sin with His own blood! Let us therefore enter into 2023 with boldness.

Prayer Guide: Dear Lord, help me never to forget your benefits.

Memory Verse For This Week: Ecclesiastes 10:10 (NIV) – “If the axe is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed but skill will bring success.”
