Exposition:
The word gospel comes from the Anglo-Saxon word which means, “the story concerning God”. The Greek word euagellion used in the New Testament means “good news or message (of the kingdom)”. This good news or message is about our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It is a message of salvation to everyone who believes in Him.
In 1 Corinthians 15:1-5, Paul indicated that the gospel he received was very important and powerful and that was what he passed on to the church in Corinth. The gospel according to the scripture is that, Jesus Christ died for our sins, He was buried, He resurrected on the third day and that He appeared to the disciples. According to Apostle Paul, by this gospel you are saved (1 Cor. 15:2). It is only the gospel of Christ that is powerful to save you from your sins. This good news is for everyone including young people. You cannot be saved unless you accept this simple but powerful gospel message of salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ. Many young men and women are being bombarded with “strange gospel” – human philosophy, ideologies, worldviews, secular humanism –which are not “gospel” at all. Paul cautioned the Galatian church not to accept any “other gospel” even if it was preached by angels (Galatians 1:6-8).
Paul confidently declared in Romans 1:16 that, he was not ashamed of the gospel of Christ Jesus because the gospel is the power of God for salvation to all who believe. It is this gospel that can translate you from darkness to light and make you a new creation.
Today make a decision to accept this gospel by acknowledging Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.
