THE LIFE OF A SAVED PERSON (2)

Titus 2:11-13

Exposition:

We started learning about the life of a saved person yesterday and we realized that there are some things we have to avoid. Our reading further goes on to tell us about what we must do. We are told to live self-controlled/sober, upright and godly lives.

A self-controlled life is a lifestyle in which we are able to control our desires/passions. We are able to restrain ourselves from doing something we are not supposed to do at a particular time. Thus, we are to control our passions and desires so that we will not continue to live in sin. This is made possible by the Holy Spirit in us (Galatians 5:22-23). It also looks at we living soberly – a calm and sensible life in which we know what to do and what not to do.

We are also told to live uprightly/righteously and godly. This means that everything we do in this must be right in God’s sight and please Him. We must live this life even if everyone around us is not living it. This life is found in God’s word. When we study the Word of God, we know how God wants us to live and by the help of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 2:22-23), we will live this life.

Prayer Guide: Dear Holy Spirit, my strength will fail if I rely on it to live righteously and godly. So please help me to live this life. Amen.

Memory Verse For This Week: Romans 10:9 (NIV) – That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
