FELLOWSHIP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

Scripture References: John 16:12-15, John 14:16-18,26, Acts 15:28

Exposition:

The word fellowship comes from the Greek “Koinonia” which basically means ‘sharing in common’. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit involves sharing our lives in common with Him. It means opening up the deepest parts of our personality to the influence and direction of God’s Spirit. As youths our thoughts, motives, feelings, attitudes, decisions must be laid bare in his presence. He must have a say in our future plans, fears, hopes, passions, visions and choices. We must seek his counsel and wisdom in all things and submit to His promptings, urges and nudges.

Fellowship with the Holy Spirit means taking pains to find out and do what pleases Him (Acts 15:28). It means avoiding the sins against the Spirit and majoring in the character traits that reflect the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). As young individuals, we must cultivate intimacy with the Spirit of God on daily basis when we invite Him to help us in our day-to-day decision-making. Who is your closest friend? To whom have you developed a keen relationship with? The Holy Spirit is our helper and one who takes care of us so we do not become orphans. Are you feeling like an orphan? Befriend the Holy Spirit. He is a person because he speaks and hears, thinks and reasons, feels and has emotions, he decides, has a will and self- determination.

The Christian life is a supernatural life and it takes the Holy Spirit to introduce us to the deeper dimension in our walk. Don’t faint at the happenings of life, engage the Holy Spirit. Our hunger for growing intimacy with the Holy Spirit can been seen when we commit ourselves to building a life of daily fellowship with Him. You can develop the intimacy by the following: Develop sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, Cultivate fellowship with the Spirit through conversation, prayer and worship.

Prayer Guide: Holy Spirit I yearn for your fellowship. Take me deeper in my walk with You.
