THE MISSIONARY, HOPE FOR THE HOPELESS

Romans 1:1-16

EXPOSITION:

We are all of us fellow passengers on the same planet, and we are all of us equally responsible for the happiness and well being of the world in which we happen to live.” -Van Loon

From the reading Paul the Apostle was separated for the gospel of hope in Christ. He devoted himself to prayer for the saints and the preaching of the gospel to the lost. This grace of God through Jesus Christ is, according to Paul, the power of God unto salvation for them that believe; the gospel is a bondage-breaker, sorrow-remover, mender of broken-heart and the hope of glory. The Apostle is therefore not ashamed of this important ingredient that has the ability to bring happiness and wellbeing to the cosmos. A missionary by name John Hunt in 1847 learnt and translated the New Testament into Fijian vernacular. This work brought great light to the Fijians who hitherto were cannibals.  We are responsible for the peace of our immediate environment through the preaching of the gospel.

CRITICAL VERSE:

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” – Romans 1:16 KJV

LIFE APPLICATION:

Dearly beloved, an unbelieving neighbour could be a source of danger to the entire community we find ourselves. One of the surest ways of living in peace and harmony is the presence of a missionary who brings hope to the hopeless with the gospel of Christ.

PRAYER: Lord, I give myself away so You can use me to save others for You. #PossessingtheNations
