EXPOSITION
‘If there be any one point in which the Christian church ought to keep its fervor at a white heat, it is concerning missions. If there be anything about which we cannot tolerate lukewarmness, it is in the matter of sending the gospel to a dying world. –Spurgeon’
And as Jesus passed by… but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. (John 9:1-4 KJV) (Emphasis mine)
There is so much to be done for God that no one could blow the whistle of idleness in this life. As some think one needs an ecclesiastical title to do God’s work others contemplate that one needs a special skill to venture into God’s missionary work; it should be noted that the Samaritan woman at the well of Jacob met Jesus just for a few minutes and this was enough to turn her into an evangelist. She brought the whole town folks to Christ with a simple message ‘Come, see a man, who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ? Then they went out of the city and came to Him. (John 4:29-30 NKJV).
In the first reading God said… and brought you to Myself… then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people… And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation… (Exodus 19:4-6 NKJV). God has brought us unto Himself. He wants our fellowship; He wants us to be with Him then… Jesus, when selecting His disciples, ‘saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men… Beloved, as we come to God, we follow Jesus then He makes us into fishers of men; and that is Missions.
