Twifo Praso NMTC PENSA Launches Environmental Care Campaign
The Twifo Praso Nursing and Midwifery Training College (NMTC) branch of the Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA) in the Assin Foso Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised a remarkable ceremony to officially launch the Environmental Care Campaign in the school.
The event, which took place on Saturday, April 13, 2019, was under the theme, “Environmental Care, My Responsibility.” It had the Twifo/Atti-Morkwa District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Robert Agyemang Nyantakyi, as the Special Guest of Honour.
In attendance were Pastor Matthew Mpaba, Twifo Nyinase District Minister, and Mr. Daniel Sakyi, a Tutor at Twifo Praso Nursing and Midwifery Training College.
Also present were Mr. Kojo Debra Bekoe, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communication Member, Alhaji Tijani Zakari, former Coordinator for NPP NASARA, Hon. Peter Mensah, Government Appointee, Mr. Douglas Oppong, Personal Assistant to the DCE and Ms Grace Adjoa Donkoh, Secretary to the DCE.
Various speakers at the launch took turns to highlight on the need for individuals to take good care of the environment and protect it. They stated that, caring for the environment goes beyond just clearing trash, but the maintenance of water bodies, forest reserves and natural resources.
The launch, which was jointly performed by Pastor Matthew Mpaba and the DCE, was preceded by a massive clean-up campaign on the school campus on Friday, April 12, 2019. Some of the places cleaned were the assembly hall, administration block, lavatory, waste disposing site, the school entrance and the school compound. After the launch, there was a float from the campus to the town centre, amidst brass band music. The students also swept along the road to the market place.
The Environmental Care Campaign is a flagship social responsibility initiative by The Church of Pentecost in conjunction with Zoomlion Company Limited aimed at protecting and preserving the environment. It is part of The Church of Pentecost Vision 2023 Agenda of Possessing the Nations.
The initiative has been undertaken at various levels of the church structure through both advocacy (education) and social action (clean-up exercises).
