Seek The Blessings Of The Fathers – Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah

The immediate-past Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah (Retired), has said that any Christian who seeks the blessings of God must have a personal encounter with God and be obedient to Him.

Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah said this on Wednesday, September 25. 2019, when he addressed participants of the 4th Bezalel Conference at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa in the Central Region.

Speaking on the topic: “Seeking The Blessings Of The Fathers” with Genesis 49:26 as his main scripture reference, the former Chairman said that the blessings of God come in various ways. He, however, explained that although Abraham was the source of God’s blessings, his descendants, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph, could only access the blessings of God after having a personal encounter with Him.

Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah said that although God had promised to bless Isaac because of his covenant with his father, Abraham, Isaac needed to encounter God for himself before accessing God’s blessings. In the same way, he added, God revealed Himself to Jacob, even after Isaac had blessed him.

“As a Christian, you must not know God through your fathers, rather the God of your fathers must become your own God,” he charged.

The former Chairman also noted that, in addition to the encounter with God, one must be prepared to keep and obey God’s commandments so as to receive His blessings.

He noted that Joseph’s blessings surpassed that of his forebears because he was obedient to God in all his ways. He said that unlike Joseph, Abraham heeded to the counsel of Sarah to bear a child with her servant Hagar although God had promised him He was going to have a child. Isaac on the other hand, failed as a parent because he showed favouritism towards his son Esau and not Jacob, whilst Jacob was a schemer and full of deception.

Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah (Retired) therefore advised Christians to seek a personal encounter with God for themselves and to be obedient to His commands at all times trusting that the faithful God would keep His covenant and bless them abundantly.

He also encouraged Christians to be hardworking, people of integrity and to uphold their Christian virtues at their various workplaces as Joseph did in Potiphar’s house.
