Free NHIS Registration Exercise Organised For Children In Aburonehia District
Some 323 children in the Aburonehia District of The Church of Pentecost who hitherto could not access quality healthcare due to financial challenges, were on Saturday, December 14, 2019, and January 4, 2020, registered onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
The 2-day exercise dubbed “Operation Save the Child,” was initiated and financed by Mrs Grace Rocklyn Annor (wife of the Aburonehia District Minister) and other benevolent individuals.
The NHIS registration was undertaken by officials of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) officials in the Sefwi Akontombra District at the premises of Aburonehia Central Assembly.
Speaking to PENTECOST NEWS, an elated Mrs Annor shared her passion for undertaking this mission. According to her, the desire to extend the less privileged in the church and community motivated the project.
The exercise was organised to curtail the unfortunate rise in child mortality rate and other health-related challenges in the area due to financial constraints.
The project, which cost GH¢2,862.00, saw the registration of 217 children onto the health insurance scheme and 106 others renewing their NHIS cards. These were children of members from the 16 Assemblies of the District and non-members from the communities. Besides these numbers, 20 adults were also registered onto the scheme due to their age and the circumstances they find themselves.
Some parents of the children and adult beneficiaries of the exercise, who spoke to PENTECOST NEWS, could not hide their joy at the opportunity given them. They were very thankful to God and expressed their appreciation to the team that put together the project.
