Effective Christian Fellowship Is Key In The Possessing The Nations – Apostle Massaboi Zuwu
The Liberia National Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Massaboi Zuwu, has advised Christians to unite and relate to each other as members of one family in their quest to possess the nations for Christ.
According to him, effective fellowship is key in possessing the nations’ agenda of the Church since fellowship is an important part of the Christian faith.
“Let us continue to see and relate to each other as members of one family, for our strength, victory and success is in our unity. As we endeavour to possess the nations, let us remind ourselves that it is only in unity as a church that we can successfully possess the nations,” he said.
He added: “Although we are from diverse backgrounds and ethnic groups, we should be able to celebrate our diversity in unity to portray the glory of God. However, in our world today, people in the church are becoming increasingly individualistic in their attitudes and lifestyles.”
Apostle Massaboi said this on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at the 2019 Heads’ Prayer Meeting of The Church of Pentecost at the Pentecost Convention (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh.
Speaking on the topic, “The Power and Beauty of Christian Fellowship” with his main texts from Hebrews 10:24-25 and John 13:35, he defined Christian fellowship as “any gathering of saints who come together to glorify God the Father and the Son, and to edify one another.”
He, however, said that Christian fellowship is much more than a gathering of believers or a Christian meeting. According to him, it is possible for people to gather together many times in a day, yet there may be no real fellowship among them.
“Christian fellowship is a state in which we share with God and with one another in life, work, pleasure and sufferings. It is a lifelong relationship that should occur between us physically and spiritually at all times,” he explained.
Apostle Massaboi mentioned that Christian fellowship comes with both physical and spiritual benefits to believers as it allows them to learn, gain strength, and show the world the beauty of their love and unity in Christ. This, he said, is a testimony that affirms the witness of Christians.
He indicated that unity begins in the heart, saying, “Until we are truly united in our hearts, all other efforts which may be made to unify us physically will be in vain (Acts 4:32). It is the power of unity in the heart that pulls us together into one place to do one thing in spite of the fact that we are from diverse backgrounds.”
He proposed various ways by which Christians can develop fellowship. This includes knowing God and having a relationship with Him, loving Him, loving their neighbours, living in peace with everyone, and teaching on the importance of fellowship.
Touching on the impact of fellowship on the church, Apostle Massaboi posited that God in His wisdom designed that all of His children be members of one body, the body of Christ. “Just as no normal person acts in opposition to himself, so members of the body of Christ must also be in fellowship, with one another and with Christ. By our connection to one another as members of one body, each of us derives nourishment, support and development from the fellowship,” he said.
He added: “The result of our unity in fellowship will be a flow of fresh oil, the anointing of the Holy Spirit amongst us in a stronger dimension beginning with leadership down to every member of the church. This flow of anointing will enhance evangelism in the church.”
